About the national quality department

At Corlann, we are committed to delivering the highest standards of quality assurance and driving continuous quality improvement across all our services. Our approach is built on strong partnerships with the people who use our services, their families, and local communities.

Together, we strive to create meaningful, person-centred supports that reflect individual goals and aspirations.

As a learning organisation, we stay informed about the latest developments in the field of Intellectual Disability and integrate international best practices into everything we do. This commitment ensures that our services evolve to meet the changing needs and expectations of those we support.

Our core values
At the heart of Corlann are values that prioritise dignity, respect, and humanity for every person we support. These values guide us as we:

  • Recognise and uphold the rights of each individual.
  • Respond to their unique hopes and expectations.
  • Work collaboratively with families and communities.
  • Build on the growing expertise of our dedicated teams.

Defining quality
For Corlann, quality is personal. It is defined by each individual and measured by how well we support their vision for living a life of their choosing within their own community.

How we achieve this

  • Person-Centred Planning: We use a collaborative approach to support individuals to identify meaningful goals and plan for their future.
  • Key Worker: Each person has a dedicated key worker who supports the development of their Person-Centered Plan.
  • Personal Outcome Measures (POM): Developed by the Council on Quality and Leadership (CQL), POM are our primary tool for understanding what matters most to each person. They help us measure the quality of services from the individual’s perspective and guide life planning.

Quality enhancement framework
The insights we gather through POM inform our Quality Enhancement Framework, embedding outcomes and quality-of-life priorities into our improvement model. This ensures that our services remain responsive, person-centred, and aligned with best practice.
